I always try to eat delicious food. Unfortunately I don't have that much money, so I have to cook a lot of it at home. But thats OK because I love cooking and I love eating at home with my wife. This is a website with my favorite recipes and a little bit of commentary.

Goulash Soup

One of my current favorite soups is goulash soup. There are tons and tons of recipe for goulash and goulash soup. I like this one because it is very kid friendly and easy to make.

I first had this soup at a restaurant in Fort Dodge called Olde Boston's. I stopped in for a business lunch one day this Spring. I wasn't all that hungry so I ordered the soup of the day. I found myself wanting another bowl, but by the time I was able to order another the soup was gone. This is not Olde Boston's recipe. I couldn't bribe the waiter for the recipe. Instead I spent several months reverse engineering the soup and I think I am pretty close. Try it yourself if you are hungry for some tasty soup!

Goulash Soup

1/2 pound hamburger
1/4 c diced onion
1/4 c diced green pepper
1/4 c celery, finely chopped
26 oz can tomato soup
26 oz can water
2 t paprika
1/4 t pepper
2 t salt
3/4 cup elbow macaroni, dry

Brown hamburger, onions, green pepper and celery until vegies are soft. Dump in the rest of the ingredients except for the macaroni. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Add in the dry macaroni noodles and simmer until noodles are soft. Serve with Parmesan cheese.
